Since July 2022, the U&AI | AI for SDGs Youth Bootcamp has recruited around 1500 talented participants from countries across the globe, including China, Japan, Kenya, Pakistan and Egypt.
After almost a three month-long journey filled with Masterclasses on diverse topics such as education, gender, healthcare, SDG finance, local public services, vulnerable groups, pollution, climate change and biodiversity, teams submitted their innovative proposals. These proposals showcased creative ideas and placed the SDGs at the heart. Teams offered up new solutions for care and support to help elders with AI healthcare monitoring systems, to apply AI into climate change adaptation, to promote safe and secure medical care for refugee women and other cutting-edge topics related to the SDGs.
The Semi-final Cross Pitch was held on the 25th of October and 29 teams were selected to compete. Each team had 3 minutes to present the proposal and judges from Tsinghua University, UNDP China and the private sector provided detailed evaluations. After intense competition, 14 teams have made it to the next stage— the Final Competition of U&AI!
